Fantastic experience: I recently contacted Lyonswood for an exploration call and their level of expertise and understanding was fantastic. They took the time to explain the best course of action and supported me throughout without simply aiming to secure a fee, it was tailored, considerate and professional.

Negative experience: Desperate to find a family member I was originally quoted $1200 for search but this suddenly jumped to $1800 because of the complexities they stated they may face for a standard search apparently……. I paid and then it would be weeks more than originally stated unless I wanted to pay an additional $500. When the report came back it contained the information I had provided to them and already knew, screenshots of white pages searches of similar names and other non relevant information and a letter saying that’s all they could find but they had a possible lead but I would need to pay an additional $5000 to $11000 for further feild work and follow up. When I questioned this and asked that they follow up on the lead they refused and said that they had done everything that they had been paid to do. That in there quote they stated that they would “endeavour “ to locate and since they had tried then that’s good enough. I said that if you had paid a contractor to build a kitchen and he said well I didn’t provide what you paid for but I endeavoured to build it but now it’s going to be an additional $11000 would you be satisfied? After that comment they sent me a letter saying that they are terminating all future dealings with me and refuse a refund because they did in fact “endeavour” to locate the person. I said that’s a bit dodgy and I was then threatened with civil litigation for defamatory comments and how dare I suggest that they had engaged in a money grabbing practice. In my opinion I would not recommend this business. Scheduled calls and updates were never adhered to. What I got for my money was nothing. NOTHING! When I did ring during the research period after making payment the customer service went down hill and I was always spoken to like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. I feel that my emotions and desperation was played by them. I have taken the issue to the ACCC and fair trading nsw both ruling in my favour and now I have to take civil action against them for a refund. When I first started pursuing my refund they employed a solicitor who threatened to file a false police report against me if I didn’t drop it and pay another agency they recommended. Action has been taken against this solicitor with the legal society of nsw. In my opinion, What really is stupid about all of this, is that their competitors actually did the job in full for a 3rd of the price and I’m guessing Lyonswood have probably spent more on the solicitor to make threats than my refund would have been. So in summary, I don’t recommend this company.

Their attention to detail, honesty, reliability and professionalism is unmatched. There is simply no better company on this side of the earth that can compare. Their results speak for themselves. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
